Writing and research are my primary passions. I can write in a range of styles, from op-eds to detailed research and analysis. My main focuses are in the areas of collective bargaining, workplace issues, and privatization. My books include "Taking Back the Workers’ Law — How to Fight the Assault on Labor Rights" and "Working Free: The Origins and Impact of New Zealand's Employment Contracts Act."

For the last few months, I have co-written blogs on the National Labor Relations Act for Truthout with Ann C. Hodges, and I have written issue briefs for the American Constitution Society and the Economic Policy Institute.

After practicing law for the National Labor Relations Board for 11 years, I moved into teaching. I have held tenured positions at several law schools, including Penn State Dickinson, Wayne State University, and California Western. I was a visiting professor at the University of Michigan Law School and Massey University in New Zealand. Also, I conducted research as a scholar in residence at Victoria University Wellington, Otago University, and Waikato University, New Zealand.
