Daniel J.B. Mitchell is professor emeritus at the Anderson Graduate School of Management and the Luskin School of Public Affairs, U.C.L.A. He is a longtime Labor and Employment Relations Association member and received its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.

Mitchell, a frequent contributor to op-ed pages, including those of the New York Times and Los Angeles Times, is currently the senior academic editor of the Employment Policy Research Network.

Mitchell's past publications were generally in the areas of wage determination, wage-price controls, concession bargaining, flexible pay plans, non-wage employee benefits, use of labor-market data, labor standards in international trade and other aspects of labor-market analysis. He now focuses on California policy issues, especially state finance.

Mitchell is the author of the book, Pensions, Politics, and the Elderly: Historic Social Movements and Their Lessons for Our Aging Society. Mitchell is senior academic editor of EPRN.
